Ultimately, how you look at your life, your intentions and the values you place on vertain things is what will determine your happiness or unhappiness. When you are consumed with negative thoughts and beliefs, and you have no life goals you will discover that you are mostly unhappy and not enjoying your life. Eventually, your perception of the world will become your reality (that everyone sucks and the world hates you). This is why changing your mindset is so important because it will make a substantial difference in your life. Here are four of the main signs that it’s time for you to adjust your mindset (like today)…

You Focus on Everything That’s Wrong

A sure indication that you need to shift your mindset is when you continuously fix your attention on the disappointments and worry in your life. Now, when you get so far stuck in this rythm you may not even notice it until someone that’s sick of it points it out to you one day (boom!). When we become stuck in the pattern of negativity we draw in everything around us that resides in the same vibrational level so more and more negative influences surround our sacred space, which in turn of course, makes us more negative and unhappy with our surroundings and life in general. The more you complain the more you will have to complain about – it’s science, look it up. To change this mindset, you need to take some time to think about the things you are thankful for in your life. Gratitude is the golden KEY. This will help to keep the negative thoughts from overwhelming your perspective and shift your intention towards focusing on the good things, slowly but surely you’ll climb out of this pattern.

You Refuse to Face the Truth

Complaining all the time about reality won’t change anything. Always complaining about your life is your refusal to acknowledge and accept the truth. There are things in your life that you just won’t be able to change, and refusing to see reality, will result in you no longer being able to separate fact from fiction. To change this, you have to take action and change those things that you can change and accept those things that you can’t change. Acceptance is hard, but once you take that step (the hardest step), the rest will flow easily. We always have the power of choice, always. Change what is possible to change and accept that which cannot and move on. Once you shift into focusing on the positive changes what no longer serves you will fall away effortlessly on its own.

You Become Angry When Your Expectations Aren’t Met

A large part of your mindset consists of your expectations. These are what you believe to be possible and necessary. If you are always angry with the people in your life because they aren’t meeting your expectations, it means that you have unrealistic expectations to start with. It is our expectations that lay the groundwork for our experiences, but if you have unrealistic expectations for yourself and those around you, you will never be satisfied with your life. NEVER. We can never determine what someone will say or how they react to a situation so don’t try. Shift your focus inward, focus on what you say and how you react and respect the way others react as their own personal journey. You may find once you remove your unrealistic expectations that your interactions become more pleasing.

Always Seeing Yourself as the Victim

When you always see yourself as the victim, you are hindering your ability to change things and create a better life for yourself. A victim mentality is typically a by-product of low self-esteem. If you want to change your mindset, you have to reject the victim role and start building something better for your life. Our future is never determined by what we experience in our past. Let if go. Focus on the present moment, it is only ever available now. We never have to re-experience anything, only to see and support ourselves exactly as we are in this moment.

Changing your mindset isn’t always easy, but it is one of the most powerful things that you can do for yourself. Learn how to recognize when you have a negative mindset and make the necessary changes to become more positive. I can’t stress enough how important it is for every human being to constantly be supporting themselves in personal and spiritual development and be forever on the path of growth.
